The Pinkfong Company’s “Baby Shark” (2016) officially became the most-streamed music video of the last decade in Britain.
“Baby Shark” accumulated “an impressive 272 million U.K. music video streams to date,” said the British music chart program Official Charts in an article released Wednesday.
"We are thrilled and honored that Baby Shark has become the most streamed video in the U.K. Official Chart's streaming era,” The Pinkfong Company CEO Kim Min-seok said in the article.
This achievement by Pinkfong Baby Shark is the first among K-pop and K-content and is also unique among children's songs worldwide, The Pinkfong Company said Wednesday in a press release.
“Baby Shark” was certified four times platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) in July last year. A platinum certification for singles is given for every 600,000 equivalent units sold.
"The global music sensation 'Pinkfong Baby Shark' has once again proven its impact as a global intellectual property by ranking on the chart of the most beloved songs in the United Kingdom over the past decade,” said Kim in Wednesday’s press release. “We will continue to strive to present family entertainment content that fans around the world can enjoy across borders and generations, not just with 'Pinkfong Baby Shark.'"
