LG Electronics expanded its Air Solution R&D labs to Europe, following the establishment of similar facilities in South Korea and the United States. This move is part of the company’s strategy to cater to local heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) market needs.

LG Electronics announced the opening of its latest Air Solution R&D Lab in Frankfurt, Germany, on Monday. This new lab is the third of its kind, following the ones in Changwon, Korea, and Atlanta in the United States.

The Frankfurt lab, spanning about 9,900 square feet, is equipped to test new HVAC products for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. It will also manage the operations of the European Consortium for Advanced Heat Pump Research (ECAHR) in Norway.

“We plan to actively recruit and nurture talent in various fields, including heat pumps and smart home technologies, to use this lab as a strategic base for the fast-growing European HVAC market,” a LG Electronics spokesperson said. LG Electronics estimates the European HVAC market to be worth $13 billion in 2024.
