LG Uplus introduces AI-powered personalization to IPTV service

LG Uplus announced on Sunday that it will integrate its self-developed AI model, “ixi,” into its Internet TV (IPTV) service to enhance the user experience via on-device AI technology.

The company plans to use AI to offer ultra-personalized content recommendations as well as improving subtitle readability and audio quality. The AI will analyze users’ viewing histories in real-time, for example, to display a tailored list of recommended content on the IPTV home screen.

The AI technology will also enhance viewing convenience by adjusting the position of Korean subtitles when they overlap with on-screen captions, thus improving readability. Another notable feature includes voice enhancement for characters when users watch videos at increased playback speeds.
