The BBC will air the journey of Britain's first K-pop boy band as members train in Korea to learn the essence of the made-in-Korea music genre.
The six-part TV series "Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience" is scheduled to air this summer on British television channel BBC One and video service BBC iPlayer, said SM Entertainment on Friday.
"Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience" will showcase the five-member boy band's 100-day journey in Seoul, where they undergo training and grow into K-pop musicians. The series comes in tandem with the boy band's debut scheduled for the second half of this year.
The specific dates of the TV series' release and the boy band's debut remain undisclosed as of Friday.
Moon&Back Media cast the members of the band and SM Entertainment provided K-pop related tips, such as producing music, music videos and choreography, said the Korean agency.
"Forming a British boy band, schooling them through the unrivaled rigors of the K-pop process and launching them on the global stage is creating both a world first and unmissable television,” said Nigel Hall, co-founder of Moon&Back Media.
The boy band's debut comes at a time when K-pop companies are increasingly debuting acts outside Korea, such as HYBE's new girl group Katseye and the World K-pop Center's international BlingOne project.
Moon&Back Media was founded by producer Hall, known for TV shows including "The X Factor" (2004-18) and "Britain’s Got Talent" (2007-), Russ Lindsay, co-founder of James Grant Media Group, and Dawn Airey, a TV content expert and former CEO of Getty Images.
