The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korean cultural centers around the world are trying to provide opportunities for more people to experience Korean culture by expanding their reach.
The project will proceed in collaboration with various local entities such as Korean associations, educational institutions, and government agencies. according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Friday.
The center in Shanghai is collaborating with the Qinhuai District of Nanjing to hold an exhibition on making rice cakes and makgeolli — a traditional Korean alcoholic beverage — starting July 18 until Aug. 23.
The center in Vietnam will partner with three educational institutions; M. V. Lomonosov Middle & High School on Aug. 28, Thai Nguyen University on Sept. 26 and Hong Bang International University in October to provide opportunities to experience Korean culture. The center previously partnered with four universities, including Van Lang University and Nguyen Trai University in April.
The center in the United Arab Emirates will collaborate with the Sharjah Department of Government Relations and Al Ain City Municipality in September, presenting a traditional Korean percussion performance.
Other Korean cultural events will be held in places like New Mexico, Utah and Missouri to introduce various aspects of Korean culture throughout the United States in September and October, said the Culture Ministry.
"The Culture Ministry will actively promote and spread 'K-culture' beyond regions without cultural centers to countries without them by strengthening cooperation with relevant ministries, local institutions, and Korean associations," a Culture Ministry policy official said Friday.
