LG Electronics, Qualcomm heads to discuss AI cooperation

LG Electronics Inc. and Qualcomm Inc. are strengthening their collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI), a sign that their cooperation, which began with LG‘s mobile business, is continuing to grow.

According to sources from the home appliance industry on Wednesday, LG Electronics Chief Executive Officer Cho Joo-wan is scheduled to meet with Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon on Thursday during his visit to Korea. Amon will visit the LG Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul, to discuss AI cooperation strategies, and the discussions are expected to focus on the on-device AI business.

The Korean tech giant recently formed an organization under its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to oversee on-device AI strategies. Given its increased emphasis on the on-device AI business, the company is expected to strengthen its partnership with Qualcomm, the top semiconductor supplier in telematics and wireless car connectivity.

LG Electronics and Qualcomm have been collaborating on various projects, including automotive electronics and audio products. LG Electronics incorporated Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 application processor (AP) into its tablet PCs in 2022.
