An exhibition on Korean art titled “Decoding Korea” is set to take place alongside the upcoming Paris Olympics at the Grand Palais Immersif.

Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Arts Management Service, the exhibition will be held from July 26 and continue until Aug. 25.

“Decoding Korea” will be filled with media artworks and spotlights the complexity and versatility of Korea derived from its 20th century industrialization period. Eighteen works by 11 modern and contemporary artists like Nam June Paik, Kang Yi-yun, Kwon Ha-youn, Lee Yong-baek, Lee Lee-nam and Jung Yeon-doo are featured in the exhibition.

The artists’ works utilize the latest technology, such as virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence.

In addition to the main exhibit, there will be a special section dedicated to Paik, which will showcase his “Global Groove” (1973) and “Wrap Around the World” (1988) media artworks.

“Decoding Korea” is part of the "2024 Korea Season" programs that the Culture Ministry has been holding across Paris since May 2. Until November, cultural events by Korean arts organizations will take place, including ballet galas and orchestra recitals.
