Sampyo wins MOLIT certification for cold-resistant concrete

Sampyo Group said on Wednesday that its cold-resistant concrete, developed in partnership with DL E&C Co., was certified as a new construction technology by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT).

The new material, called BLUECON WINTER, is cold-resistant concrete that can be used even when the temperature drops to -10℃. It achieves a compressive strength of 5 megapascals (MPa) within 48 hours of pouring, even at -10℃, without any additional curing. One MPa is the strength to withstand a load of 10 kilograms per square centimeter of concrete.

BLUECON WINTER is the first cold-resistant concrete made by a South Korean company. The material has been commercially used since 2018 and granted technical certification in 2021 from the Korea Concrete Institute (KCI), an institution of professionals in concrete material, construction, repair and strengthening, and concrete-related production.
