On July 9th, Jennie's agency, OA Entertainment, issued an apology regarding Jennie's indoor smoking controversy.

Firstly, the agency stated, "We sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable with Jennie's behavior in the content released on the 2nd. Jennie also deeply regrets smoking indoors and causing discomfort to the staff. She has personally contacted the staff who were present at the scene to apologize."

The agency added, "We also apologize to the fans who were disappointed and promise to show a more mature and better side in the future."

Earlier on July 9th, a video of Jennie allegedly smoking indoors spread rapidly on social media and online communities.

The video was part of 'A Moment in Capri with Jennie,' released on Jennie's YouTube channel on July 2nd. In the video, Jennie is seen holding a black object to her mouth while getting her makeup done, followed by white smoke rising.

This led to criticism not only for smoking indoors but also for not considering the non-smokers, as the staff applying her makeup were in close proximity.

Additionally, a netizen filed a complaint regarding the controversy. Netizen A stated, "I requested an investigation from the Korean Embassy in Italy through the Citizen's Report, believing the location where Jennie smoked indoors was Capri Island, Italy, where she recently visited."

A further added, "I reported to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, urging the embassy to request an investigation from the Italian authorities on BLACKPINK Jennie's indoor smoking incident and to impose strict penalties accordingly. I am deeply disappointed by Jennie's diplomatic faux pas and hope she takes this time to reflect."
