Hyundai Motor opens pre-orders for ‘Casper Electric’ Inspiration

Hyundai Motor announced on Tuesday that it began taking pre-orders for the ‘Inspiration’ (long range) model of its budget-friendly electric vehicle (EV), the Casper Electric.

Recently unveiled at the 2024 Busan Mobility Show, the Casper Electric lineup includes three models: Premium (standard), Inspiration (long range), and Cross (off-road style). Contracts for the Premium and Cross models will be rolled out sequentially.

The Casper Electric features Hyundai Motor’s distinctive pixel graphics on both the front and rear, a hallmark design element of the company’s EV models. Compared to its predecessors, the new model boasts an extended wheelbase of 180mm, enhancing the second-row legroom, and an extended trunk length of 100mm, increasing the cargo space by 47 liters to a total of 280 liters.

The Inspiration model of the Casper Electric is equipped with a 49kWh Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese (NCM) battery, offering a range of 315 kilometers on a single charge. The battery can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.

Hyundai Motor estimates that with government and local subsidies, the Inspiration model could be priced in the low to mid-20 million won range, making it an affordable option for many consumers.

To promote the new model, the company will operate a pop-up exhibition space in front of Apgujeong Rodeo Station in Gangnam, Seoul, from July 12th to 21st, 2024.
