Ivory Coast introduced closed periods for fishing at sea and in freshwater bodies to curb the decline in the number of fish, according to the Minister of Animal and Fishery Resources, with the objective of this closure to allow the fish stock to recover. The ministry estimated that fish production will increase from 55,522 tonnes in 2022 to 84,000 tonnes at the end of 2025 to reach 127,000 tonnes by the end of 2027. Ivory Coast is in its second consecutive year implementing biological rest like its neighbor Ghana. EPA/LEGNAN KOULA
