Girl group NewJeans will be appointed as an honorary ambassador of Korean tourism by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), media reports said Wednesday.
The quintet will be working in partnership with the KTO to promote inbound tourism to Korea as honorary ambassadors.
Past honorary ambassadors include girl group Brave Girls, virtual human Lizzie Yeo and actor Lee Jae-wook.
NewJeans has become the hottest girl group in town just two years after its debut in July 2022. It has released some of the biggest hits in K-pop including "Attention" (2022), "Ditto" (2022), "ETA" (2023) and "OMG" (2023).
The band recently made its debut in Japan with its single "Supernatural" on June 21 and filled the Tokyo Dome for its meet and greet event, "Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome," held on June 26 and 27.
NewJeans also took part in the "2024 Korea On Stage – New Generation" concert and performed at central Seoul's Gyeongbok Palace wearing outfits based on the traditional Korean dress hanbok.
