GS25, a convenience store chain operated by GS Retail Co., has signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea Expressway Corp. to bring popular snacks and food items sold at highway rest stops to neighborhood stores.

According to GS25 on Wednesday, the two companies will work together to market popular foods from famous rest areas nationwide, making them easily accessible anywhere in the country.

They have also agreed to use the sales revenue from the joint products to promote various social contribution activities.

GS25 expects the collaboration will allow it to secure the intellectual property (IP) rights to popular rest area foods, thereby significantly strengthening the competitiveness of its food innovation project.

Korea Expressway also expects this collaboration to widely promote high-quality rest area foods and further encourage rest area visitors to use restaurants and cafeterias.

GS25 plans to introduce convenient meals from major rest areas. Menus currently under consideration include a spicy stew sold at the Gokseong Rest Area (southbound) and dried pollock soup at the Yeoju Rest Area (eastbound).
