Fila, a Korean athleisure brand, published Thursday its latest sustainability report that outlines its holding company’s annual performance in 2023 and goals for sustainable practices across production and sales, including product circularity and supply chain transparency.
Titled “Your Fila Impact — Fila Integrated Report 2023,” the publication is the fifth environmental, social and governance (ESG) report since Fila Holdings established its “Your Fila Impact 2025” goal in 2019. In its report, Fila outlined its efforts to reduce its environmental impact and enhance product circularity through its upcycling program launched in 2022. The program expanded to turn worn footwear into new product components such as insoles and in-store interior materials, including shoe risers.
The firm also implemented its sustainability campaign named “Fila Re:Deuce” this year. The Fila Re:Deuce label is attached to Fila’s products, such as apparel and shoes, that meet sustainability certification standards for climate action and supply chain transparency. The products and their production processes are certified by third-party audits or by using materials that have already been labeled as sustainable.
The Seoul-based athleisure company also set up a sustainability team for ESG management within the group and a sustainability compliance team in 2023 to monitor and regulate its sourcing entities within the supply chain. Fila is conducting third-party audits of its partners and revising its selection criteria for key suppliers based on factors such as compliance levels, productivity and partnerships, the firm said.
“Fila is dedicated to exploring ways to continuously provide our stakeholders with the values of sports and beauty,” a spokesperson for Fila Holdings said through its news release. “Through various policies and actions, we are progressively integrating sustainability across all aspects of our business to drive significant change.”
