SKT CEO Ryu Young-sang
SK telecom (SKT) CEO Ryu Young-sang is solidifying his image as a leading advocate for artificial intelligence (AI) within SK Group. With a whirlwind of activities spanning Europe and the United States in less than a month, Ryu is spearheading research, development, and alliances in the AI sector.

According to industry sources on Wednesday, Ryu will host the “K-AI Alliance Unite” event in Silicon Valley from July 10-12. SK telecom’s strategy is to seek the AI Alliance-centered cooperation while boosting self-strengthening to deepen relationships with customers by advancing AI technology and creating related services.

In February last year, SK telecom launched the “K-AI Alliance” at MWC 2023 in Barcelona, Spain, aimed at collaborating on AI business and pursuing global expansion. This was followed by the first K-AI Alliance Unite event in Silicon Valley in June of the same year. At CES 2024 in Las Vegas earlier this year, SK telecom met with key alliance members to discuss further cooperation strategies. The alliance, initiated last year, has already transitioned into tangible business ventures.

One notable outcome of this collaboration is with Moloco, a Silicon Valley-based startup that provides customized advertising platforms using AI technology. SK telecom recently integrated Moloco’s advertising technology into its unified advertising platform, “ASUM 2.0,” enhancing customer targeting precision.
