Hyundai Movex Co., the smart logistics arm of South Korea’s Hyundai Group, is accelerating global expansion, garnering orders in Australia and North America, surpassing 300 billion won ($215 million) in new orders this year.

The company announced on Wednesday that it has secured an expanded contract with Australia‘s Sydney Metro for the installation of screen doors and mechanical gap fillers.

Initially securing the project in December 2022 for approximately 35.7 billion won, which included only manufacturing and supply, the total order value has now increased to about 77.5 billion won with installation costs added.

Hyundai Movex plans to install 360 screen doors and 170 mechanical gap fillers at ten stations on the Sydney Metro Southwest Line (Marrickville to Bankstown) by the end of the year.

The mechanical gap fillers, introduced in Australia for the first time, are expected to enhance passenger safety and convenience by automatically filling the gap between the train and the platform.

Hyundai Movex was founded in 2017 after the logistics automation division separated from Hyundai Elevator Co. and merged with Hyundai U&I, Hyundai Group’s information communication technology solutions subsidiary, in 2018,

Hyundai Movex specializes in smart logistics, information technology services, and platform screen doors.

In 2023, Hyundai Movex expanded into logistics for the secondary battery process, securing orders related to secondary battery production equipment in North America.

In April, the company was selected as the automation solution provider for the cathode material plant of a global secondary battery material company in Tennessee, the United States, establishing automation facilities and automated warehouses worth approximately 37 billion won.

In January, Hyundai Movex secured a smart logistics order for EcoPro BM Co.’s cathode material plant in Canada.
