Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami created a character for NewJeans’ producer and agency CEO, Min Hee-jin.
Min posted the character on her Instagram account on Tuesday.
Murakami collaborated on NewJeans’ Japanese debut single “Supernatural,” released on June 21, which features his signature flower characters on merchandise like bags and physical albums.
He also designed characters for the NewJeans members during this collaboration. Like the NewJeans members' characters created by Murakami, Min’s character has sparkles in its eyes and sports rabbit ears, a symbol for NewJeans' fandom, Bunnies.
Min's character also wears a green-striped T-shirt and a blue baseball cap, which was her attire at the viral press conference in April when Min explained her ongoing conflicts with HYBE.
Min also shared parts of her conversation with Murakami in the post, where he sent photos that inspired the character. "I have created a character for Min Hee-jin," said Murakami according to the post.
Murakami held his exhibition, “Takashi Murakami: Murakami Zombie" at the Busan Museum of Art from January to April last year. He has collaborated with global fashion brands like Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and Supreme, as well as international pop stars such as Billie Eilish and girl group Blackpink.
