Samsung Electronics Co. has decided to revamp its global home appliance lineup to enhance profitability.

During a strategy meeting involving Samsung Electronics’ digital appliance and visual display divisions in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, on Wednesday, the company discussed strategic measures for the second half of this year.

Key topics were built-in furniture, air conditioning, and other new businesses, as well as streamlining the global home appliance lineup.

The meeting, which started with the Mobile Experience (MX) division on Tuesday, takes place twice a year in June and December. It is attended by key executives and heads of overseas subsidiaries who share current issues and discuss sales strategies by business division and region.

The latest meeting, led by Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee and attended by more than 100 directors and employees, focused on streamlining the company‘s home appliance lineup.

Han noted that the company’s product lineup has become excessively segmented compared to its competitors, making efficient operations difficult.

In the second half of the year, the goal is to improve this by streamlining the lineup to match regional demand, eliminating unnecessary inventory, and increasing profitability.

The demand for cooling and heating air conditioning systems for data centers has also increased with the expansion of the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, leading to discussions on the direction of related business.
