Modern Korean artist Park Soo-keun’s work from 1962, “Farmer‘s Music” (31.8×41 cm), is set to go under the hammer at Seoul’s K Auction that will take place on June 26th, 2024.

The painting depicts villagers enjoying music and dancing after the day’s farming is done. The opening bid is 1.2 billion won ($868,310).

K Auction will feature a total of 125 works with an estimated total value of about 10.4 billion won. Of note is a special section dedicated to modern Korean artists who played a pivotal role in shaping Korean painting during significant historical periods, such as the Japanese colonial period and the Korean War. Featured artists include To Sang-bong, Park Ko-suk, Yoon Jung-sik, and Park Soo-keun.

In the international section of the auction, Robert Indiana’s iconic work from the 20th century American Pop Art movement, “LOVE (Red/Blue/Green),” will be offered at a price ranging from 300 million to 400 million won.
