KBI Dongkook Ind Co., an automotive parts specialist under KBI Group, announced on Monday that it completed the expansion of its Shin Asan plant. The expansion will enhance the company’s capacity to handle new orders more effectively.

KBI Dongkook Ind currently operates four Korean production facilities, including plants in Asan, Ulsan, and Gyeongju. These plants manufacture components for 14 Hyundai Motor models, including the Genesis and Grandeur.

Located in Chungnam’s Seonjang-myeon, Asan-si, the Shin Asan plant spans 75,900 square meters and produces plastic injection products including crash pads, consoles, carriers, and multi-boxes for vehicles.

KBI Dongkook Ind has invested 14 billion won ($10 million) Since June 2023 in expanding the Shin Asan plant. The upgraded facility will produce parts for Kia’s new electric-powered purpose-built vehicle (PBV) platform alongside components for five new electric vehicle models from Hyundai and Kia.

The newly expanded Shin Asan Plant 2 features investments in injection molding and IMG molding equipment, achieving line automation and modernization to maximize production efficiency. The annual revenue from the company’s four Korean plants is thus expected to increase by about 13 percent, from 407 billion won in 2023 to 460 billion won in 2025.
