Samsung Securities‘ Family Office service surpasses $22 bn in assets

Samsung Securities Co. announced on Monday that the total assets held by individuals that joined its Family Office service have surpassed 30 trillion won ($22 billion).

Samsung Securities’ Family Office asset management service serves 100 families as of the end of May, a milestone achieved within four years since service launch in June 2020.

The 30 trillion won in assets significantly surpasses the average assets of the top 7 mutual aid associations in South Korea.

With an average of 300 billion won per family, Samsung Securities has further bolstered its assets by 10 trillion won since establishing the Success & Investment (SNI) Family Office Center earlier this year.

Samsung Securities’ 100 families include 50 percent traditional wealthy families, 20 percent emerging wealthy families like startup founders, and 30 percent owners who acquired stakes through mergers and acquisitions.

Owners in particular favor multi-family offices operated by specialized securities firms for managing their assets.

The super-rich clients of Samsung Securities allocate their assets strategically 20 percent in stocks, 67 percent in financial products (including bonds), and 13 percent in cash, with 25.4 percent in dollar-denominated assets, seeking both profitability and stability, according to the company.

Emphasizing stable, long-term investments, Samsung Securities offers joint investment opportunities in institutional-grade products.

Recently, Samsung Securities has introduced exclusive private equity funds from global giants such as Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Carlyle Group Inc., and MBK Partners Ltd. to the domestic market.

They have also facilitated investments in high-quality unlisted companies, raising a total of 1 trillion won across 30 tailored products for Family Office.
