Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) announced on Wednesday that it has signed an agreement with Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to collaborate on new projects.

According to KEPCO, it signed a memorandum of understanding with EVN during a meeting between KEPCO CEO Kim Dong-cheol and his key counterparts in Vietnam.

The MoU encompasses cooperation in emerging sectors like innovative technologies addressing climate change and the development of next-generation power grids.

Kim shared KEPCO’s research accomplishments and case studies of cutting-edge technologies, including the Intelligent Digital Power Plants (IDPPs), Substation Equipment Diagnostic & Analysis system (SEDA), and Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS).

KEPCO also exchanged letters of intent with the Thanh Hoa provincial government to explore business collaboration opportunities. The Nghi Son power plant, KEPCO’s first facility in the province, is located there.

Currently, KEPCO is constructing and operating a combined capacity of 2,400 megawatts of power generation projects in Vietnam, constituting around 7.3 percent of private power generation projects in the country.

KEPCO expressed intentions to actively pursue green business opportunities, focusing on energy innovation and renewable resources, aligning with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, and contributing to carbon emission reduction endeavors.
