Hyundai Department Store launches character jelly candies

Hyundai Department Store Group and BGF Retail, which operates the CU convenience store chain, are ramping up their collaboration across different retail channels. The duo are teaming up to introduce CU’s jelly candies with Hyundai’s character, Heendy, at Hyundai Department Store. This collaboration is seen as a strategic move to complement each other’s strengths, as Hyundai Department Store Group lacks a convenience store subsidiary while BGF Retail does not have a department store parent company.

Hyundai Department Store announced the launch of the Heendy-designed jelly candies in partnership with CU on Tuesday. Heendy is a character conceptualized to bring happiness and relaxation to Earthlings, inspired by tales from friends in a mystical planet’s jelly forest. the Heendy jellies will be available at The Hyundai Present shop in The Hyundai Seoul and at CU stores nationwide from Wednesday onwards. This is the first time Hyundai Department Store is selling its character merchandise outside its own department stores.

The product line, named Heendy and the Jelly Seed Group, features four varieties: yogurt-flavored Heendy-shaped jelly, and character-shaped jellies named Jelping (peach flavor), Jelbong (plum flavor), and Jelpo (plum flavor).

The collaboration between the two companies began at the end of 2023. Hyundai Department Store Group formed an alliance with BGF Retail, allowing H Points to be used as cash at over 18,000 CU stores across the country. Thanks to this partnership, customers can use H Points, from a minimum of 100 points to a maximum of 20,000 points per month, in 10-point increments at CU convenience store by using their H Point mobile app barcode when paying.
