epaselect epa11401772 People protest during a rally against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan, Armenia, 09 June 2024 (issued 10 June 2024). Armenian archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan announced that opposition deputies of the National Assembly would initiate a meeting on 11 June, seeking the resignation of the government. Protests in Armenia have been going on since mid-April, beginning in the Tavush region, part of which was affected by the delimitation with Azerbaijan, where four border villages came under the control of Baku. At the same time, residents of the region, with the participation of Galstanyan, blocked the highway leading from Armenia to Georgia. The movement was called 'Tavush for the Motherland', and participants began a march to Yerevan. EPA/NAREK ALEKSANYAN
