"Wonderland" topped the domestic box office with more than 82,000 moviegoers as of Wednesday, according to the Korea Box Office Information System (Kobis).
On just the first day of its premiere in theaters, the film overthrew the initial top spot led by “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” which had some 36,000 admissions.
As of Thursday morning, there are over 91,000 reservations made to watch “Wonderland.”
“Wonderland” was directed by Kim Tae-yong and stars Tang Wei, Suzy, Park Bo-gum, Jung Yu-mi and Choi Woo-shik. The film tackles the question of dealing with grief and loss through an AI service called Wonderland that allows people to reconnect with their lost loved ones via video call simulations.
