Romanian Central bank issues a 100 years anniversay coin dedicated to the first Romanian Olympic medal

The National Bank of Romania launched today in the numismatic circuit a silver coin with the theme of 100 years since the conquest of Romania's first Olympic medal, the coin being intended for collectors and having a nominal value of 10 lei (EUR 2.01). Romania is sending approximately 80 athletes to the Olympic Games - Paris 2024. The first Romanian athlete to win an Olympic medal was Grigore Caracostea, the captain of the Romanian Olympic rugby team, who won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Paris, France, in 1924.
