The Korea National Contemporary Dance Company (KNCDC) is holding the dance performance “Init” from Friday to Sunday at the National Theater of Korea’s Haeoreum Grand Theater.

"Init" features 11 dancers from nine Asian nations, including Japan and Vietnam.

Kim Sung-yong, the artistic director of the KNCDC, arranged the choreography for the performances.

The show is part of the DMAU project, an acronym meaning “Dance Makes Asia become the Universe,” and it is part of the KNCDC’s attempt to host cultural exchange programs among Asian contemporary dancers.

“It was a fascinating experience to see the similarities in the physicality and dance, even among the dancers’ different cultural backgrounds,” Kim said in a press release. “We found a sense of Asian community by connecting with each other through our differences.”

Tickets are available on the National Theater of Korea’s website or Interpark Ticket. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets range from 20,000 won ($14) to 60,000 won.
