A Korean tourist has died after being severely injured while being pickpocketed in the northern Philippine city of Angeles, Seoul's Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
The male victim in his 60s was injured while being pickpocketed in late May. He was transferred to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead on Monday, the ministry said.
Local police authorities have launched an investigation to apprehend the suspect.
"Since becoming aware of the incident, the local consulate has been providing necessary consular assistance to the victim's family," said a ministry official on the condition of anonymity, adding that the ministry has requested a fair and prompt investigation.
In November last year, a South Korean national in his 50s was severely injured in Angeles when he was stabbed by a pair of robbers.
