Afghan girls hopeful of making it to Kankur exams

As the 2024 Kanur exam (university entrance exam) approaches, female students like Soura Afzali express concerns over being barred from participating. Despite not attending school or university for three years, Afzali remains determined, studying for the entrance exam and attending English courses daily. She states, 'When we graduated from school, we hoped that they would take us for the entrance examination', highlighting the stark contrast with her male classmates who were able to proceed. Female students are calling on the Taliban government to reopen universities and schools for girls above the sixth grade. Meanwhile, the National Examinations Agency has announced that the first round of the 2024 entrance exam will take place on 06 June in sixteen provinces. EPA/SAMIULLAH POPAL
