Samsung expands component repair service for foldable phone users

Samsung Electronics Service Co. announced on Monday that it is expanding its repair service for foldable phone displays – Galaxy Z Flip5 and Fold5 models.

The expansion is aimed at reducing repair costs for customers and electronic waste.

The new service allows for the replacement of only the necessary components, such as the display panel, frame, and casing, rather than replacing the entire unit. This approach minimizes the number of parts changed, leading to lower repair costs.

“We are expanding the number of service centers offering display-only repairs from 13 to 32 nationwide,” said a company official. “Although the repair time may increase by up to one hour, customers can save up to 36 percent on repair costs.”

In financial terms, this translates to a maximum savings of 195,500 won ($143) for Galaxy Z Fold5 display repairs.
