AstraZeneca Korea Ltd. announced on Tuesday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with healthcare startup Humanscape to introduce a digital solution aimed at assisting the diagnosis and treatment of patients with rare diseases.

Under the MoU, the two companies will leverage Humanscape’s rare disease-focused app, Rarenote, to provide information on rare disease and treatment centers.

AstraZeneca Korea’s drug expense support program, which helps alleviate the financial burden of treatment for rare disease patients, will also be fully digitized.

This will enable patients to receive financial assistance for medications directly through a mobile app.

“We will collaborate with various stakeholders in South Korea to address the diverse challenges faced by rare disease patients and their families,” said AstraZeneca Korea CEO Chon Se-whan.

“By utilizing digital platforms, we aim to enhance disease awareness and support programs, ultimately helping to alleviate the treatment-related difficulties experienced by patients,” said Humanscape CEO Jang Min-hoo.
