South Korea’s Hanwha Ocean announced on Friday that it inked partnerships with three Canadian companies at Canada’s largest defense exhibition, CANSEC.

The three companies are CAE, Curtiss-Wright Indal Technologies, and GASTOPS.

Building on a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed with CAE at Deep Blue Forum 2023, Hanwha Ocean has elevated the partnership up a notch by signing a teaming agreement a year later.

Hanwha Ocean has also signed MOUs with Curtiss-Wright Indal Technologies and GASTOPS, in which the parties committed to cooperate in the sonar operational systems and propulsion system control, modeling, and simulation fields respectively.

Hanwha Ocean aims to expand cooperation with these three companies via technology exchanges, joint research and development, and market exploration moving forward and is positioning itself to participate in Canada’s submarine procurement projects led by the government via these partnerships with local companies. The Canadian government plans to introduce new submarines to replace the four Victoria-class submarines that are currently in the Navy’s possession.
