Stephan Winkelmann, chairman & chief executive officer of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., will visit South Korea in July.

According to industry sources on Wednesday, Winkelmann is finalizing his schedule for the July visit, marking his third trip to Korea since becoming Lamborghini’s chairman in late 2020.

The highlight of his visit will be the unveiling of Lamborghini’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) model, the Urus SE, in Korea.

This event follows the global debut of the Urus SE at Auto China 2024 in Beijing in April 2023. The Urus SE features a refreshed design, advanced aerodynamics, and a powerful hybrid powertrain with a combined maximum output of 800 horsepower (CV).

Winkelmann’s direct involvement in the new car launch in Korea signals the market’s importance and growth potential.

Data from CarIsYou Data Research Center shows that Lamborghini sold 103 units in Korea from January to April this year, up 20 percent from the previous year.

This growth is notable, especially as other luxury car brands such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Porsche, Mercedes-Maybach, and Aston Martin have seen a decline in sales during the same period.

During his visit, Winkelmann is expected to meet with the top executives of the Deutsch Automobile Group, recently appointed as Lamborghini’s new dealer in Korea.

Focus is on whether Winkelmann will meet with CEOs of major domestic component companies. Given Lamborghini’s ongoing transition to electrification, discussions with executives from Samsung Electronics Co., LG Electronics Inc. Hyundai Mobis Co., and other key electronic component suppliers about next-generation parts are anticipated.
