SK C&C, Hana Technology to collaborate on smart battery facility

SK C&C Co. announced on Tuesday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hana Technology Co. on the joint development of smart machines for the production facility of secondary batteries.

Established in 2000, Hana Technology is a secondary battery equipment manufacturer that has recently diversified its business into process equipment enhancement, core equipment for solid batteries, and recycling equipment for used batteries.

The MoU aims to leverage SK C&C’s years of experience in digital factory operations and its expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and big data to transform Hana Technology’s entire process equipment into smart machines and enhance production capabilities.

Prior to the agreement, the two companies conducted performance tests by integrating SK C&C’s AI+Edge Technology into Hana Technology’s key equipment.

Both parties plan to expand their presence in the global market by collaborating on smart machine projects targeting Hana Technology’s secondary battery customers in North America and Europe.

Hana Technology said that the agreement will lead to the transformation of its secondary battery process equipment into intelligent smart machines, guarantying high quality and yield for customers.

SK C&C noted that smart machines enable the analysis of intricate manufacturing variables that are difficult to discern on the field, leading to improved yield, reduced manufacturing costs, and the establishment of a safe production environment.
