South Korea’s budget carrier Air Premia Inc. announced on Monday that it will begin selling airline tickets through an interline agreement with Korean Air Lines Co.

Interlining refers to the practice where multiple airlines form alliances to sell tickets for segments operated by each other.

Customers using interlining can conveniently purchase tickets for segments operated by multiple airlines on a single ticket, allowing for seamless transfer without the need for additional check-in or baggage claim. Airlines benefit from expanded route networks and attracting transfer passengers.

Through this agreement, travelers moving from the United States to Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia via Incheon International Airport will have the option to choose connecting flights between Air Premia and Korean Air.

Currently, Air Premia operates three departures from the U.S., including New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

The New York departure is connected to eight routes operated by Korean Air, including Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Bangkok.

The LA departure is linked to four routes to Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Manila, and Singapore, while the San Francisco departure is connected to the Singapore route.

Air Premia also plans to complete an interline agreement with Alaska Airlines, the fifth-largest airline in the U.S., in the first half of this year.

Once the interline partnership with Alaska Airlines is established, it will encompass 110 domestic routes in the U.S. and six international destinations, including Mexico and Costa Rica.
