Tottenham Hotspur will return to Korea this summer to take part in the third edition of the Coupang Play Series, facing Bayern Munich at Seoul World Cup Stadium in western Seoul on Aug. 3.
Tottenham, who finished the 2023-24 Premier League season in fifth place on Sunday, and Coupang Play simultaneously announced the match in press releases on Monday morning. Spurs previously took part in the first Coupang Play Series in 2022.
It will be the first of two Tottenham-Bayern clashes this summer.
The two are also set to meet a week later in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for a pre-season friendly on Aug. 10, which was announced in March.
Coupang in March announced Bayern Munich would visit Korea for the first time as part of the exhibition game series but had yet to announce additional participating teams.
It will be Tottenham’s first time playing Bayern since 2019 in the UEFA Champions League. Bayern won both legs of the Round of 16 clash.
But it will be a different Tottenham and a different Bayern on the pitch in Seoul and London in August. The matches will see Spurs’ Son Heung-min and Bayern’s Kim Min-jae — teammates on the Korean national team — on opposite benches.
Coupang had yet to confirm additional teams besides Tottenham and Bayern for the exhibition series or how long either team will be in Korea as of press time Monday. Spurs are already scheduled to take part in the Japan World Challenge at the end of July.
