Yoon taps new head of Military Manpower Administration

President Yoon Suk Yeol on Sunday tapped Kim Jong-cheol, vice chief of the Presidential Security Service (PSS), as the new commissioner of the Military Manpower Administration.
Kim, 59, has some 30 years of experience in the military, including working in operational planning for the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), and serving as president of the Korea National Defense University, according to the presidential office Sunday. He is also knowledgeable in defense administration.
He has been charged with the establishment of new security protocols following the relocation of the presidential office from the Blue House to the Defense Ministry compound in Yongsan District, central Seoul, and cooperated with related organizations, such as the Ministry of National Defense and the JCS.
He is a graduate of the Korea Military Academy.
