Actor Jung Yu-mi, who has a leading role in the upcoming sci-fi and fantasy film “Wonderland,” missed a news conference held for the movie Thursday due to a health condition for which she'd visited an emergency room earlier the same day.
The actor was scheduled to participate in the event but was unable to after her “condition worsened at dawn,” Jung's agency, Management Soop, said Friday.
“It seems she has overtaxed herself due to her busy schedule,” the agency said, adding that she was “very regretful that she could not join the event.”
“Wonderland” follows characters dealing with grief and loss through an AI service called Wonderland that offers reincarnations via video call simulations. Jung plays Hae-ri, an employee of the company behind the Wonderland service.
The film's director and the rest of its star-studded cast, which consists of Tang Wei, Suzy, Park Bo-gum and Choi Woo-sik, proceeded with Thursday's conference.
“Wonderland” is set for release in Korean theaters and on Netflix worldwide on June 5.
