Hana Financial Group kicked off its annual internship program for women, people with disabilities and the younger generation, the firm said Friday.
The kick-off ceremony was held on Thursday at the company’s office building in Jung District, central Seoul, with some 100 attendees, including Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo, Vice Minister Lee Sung-hee of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency President Jung Hyun-gon.
The Hana Power On internship program facilitates corporate growth and job creation while helping the financially vulnerable find new job opportunities.
Hana Financial Group has been running the internship program since 2018 and further scaled it up last year to involve 230 innovative companies. Out of 230 interns who participated in the program last year, 169, or 73.5 percent, were hired as full-time regular employees at the companies. The goal is to bring the figure to 80 percent this year.
Hana provides the companies with three months’ worth of internship wages and offers an additional two months’ wages when the interns are hired as full-time employees, along with financial support for interns.
"We can pave a sustainable future when the young generations who wish to prepare for a better future and innovative companies grow hand-in-hand,” said Ham.
