Traded Go Woo-suk makes first appearance in a Jumbo Shrimp jersey

Go, the former LG Twins reliever who has found himself in the minor leagues after signing with the MLB's San Diego Padres in January, has pitched his first game as a Florida Man — in Nebraska.

Go Woo-suk, the former LG Twins reliever who signed with the MLB’s San Diego Padres last fall, made his debut for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, a Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, on Wednesday, coming on in the bottom of the 6th in their 6-5 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers at Werner Park in Papillion, Nebraska.

He was activated by the Jumbo Shrimp on Tuesday.

Go pitched one and one third innings, picking up a hold in his first appearance as a Florida man. He allowed the Storm Chasers zero runs while on the mound to keep the score at 4-2, Jacksonville in the lead.

He was replaced in the bottom of the 8th by Emmanuel Ramirez, who recorded the win.

Go, 25, joined the Padres — home to former Kiwoom Heroes player Kim Ha-seong — on a two-year deal for a reported $4.5 million but was optioned to the Padres’ Triple-A affiliate El Paso Chihuahuas hours before the Padres kicked off the 2024 MLB season against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Seoul.

The right-hander had pitched in the Padres’ exhibition game against his former club, the LG Twins, a day earlier when he gave up a two-run home run before securing the 5-4 save.

Go had a disappointing spring training, recording a 12.46 ERA across five games.

He was assigned to the Padres’ Double-A affiliate, the San Antonio Missions, where he earned a 4.38 ERA over 10 games with zero wins and two losses before the Padres traded him, along with three prospects, to the Marlins last week in exchange for Luis Arraez, a second baseman who had been on a bit of a hot streak this season — a .299 batting average over 33 games.

So far in the minors, Go has a 3.95 ERA over 11 games and has yet to secure a win.
