Monsta X will open a pop-up store showcasing Monmungchi, the band members’ representative animal characters, in celebration of the boy band’s ninth anniversary since debut.
Titled “Monmungchi X: Welcome Party,” the event will be held at The Hyundai Seoul’s pop-up zone from May 9 to 15, the band’s agency Starship Entertainment said in a press release Wednesday.
The pop-up space will be decorated with a Monmungchi character theme, and merchandise featuring the characters will be sold at the store.
News regarding the pop-up store will be announced through a newly made social media page for Monmungchi, according to Starship Entertainment.
Monmungchi consists of seven characters designed after the band’s six members: Baetongyi, Meongko, Chaeboogi, Manrangyi, Nyangkun, Hamsangyi and Hamsgyi. Member Kihyun has two hamster characters, Hamsangyi and Hamsgi, designed after him, while the other members have one each.
“The official pop-up store was made to commemorate the ninth anniversary of Monsta X’s debut, which will fall on May 14,” Starship Entertainment said. “It will bring back a lot of memories for Monsta X’s fans, Monbebe.”
Monsta X debuted on May 14, 2015, with its first EP “Trespass.” Member I.M, who released his second EP on April 3, is gearing up for his first solo world tour, while Shownu currently stars as Anatole in the musical "The Great Comet." Four of the band’s members — Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon and Joohoney — are serving military duty.
