Takahashi, creator of the manga series 'Captain Tsubasa', says he drew inspiration from Brazilian soccer and FC Barcelona, and from Dutch player Johan Cruyff. 'I was attracted to his beautiful game and his philosophy that it is better to lose 3-2 than to win 1-0, as long as you put on a good show,' said Takahashi during an interview in Tokyo. His appreciation for the Spanish team is reflected in the fact that Captain Tsubasa is often depicted wearing a shirt in the colors of FC Barcelona.
