Patients and students are increasingly embarrassed by the ongoing standoff between doctors and the government over the medical school admissions quota increase. Even after the government took a step back from its adherence to adding 2,000 more medical students annually over the next five years, trainee doctors and senior doctors still refuse to attend a meeting with the government to determine the exact number for the quota hike. If the Ministry of Education fails to wrap up next year’s college admissions guidelines by May, students may have serious trouble applying for medical schools. [PARK YONG-SEOK]
