Aramco, Seoul team up to introduce reusable trays at Jamsil Stadium

Aramco Asia Korea signed an agreement with the city to replace disposable containers with reusables at Jamsil Stadium.

Aramco Asia Korea has partnered the city of Seoul to launch an eco-friendly program aimed at reducing plastic waste at a sports stadium.

Aramco Korea, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aramco, teamed up with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Seoul Metropolitan Council, the Seoul Association of Self-Proficiency Centers, the Doosan Bears and LG Sports as well as concessions provider Amoje for the program, which will replace single-use food containers with reusable trays at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in southern Seoul.

The Multi-use Plastic Food Tray Program, supported by Aramco Korea, will produce and distribute approximately 100,000 reusable food and beverage trays to spectators.

The company expects the program to increase waste separation rates within the venue and raise awareness on the importance of responsible disposal and recycling.

The participants of the program held a ceremony to celebrate the initiative at City Hall on Friday.

At the ceremony, Khalid Radi, acting representative director of Aramco Asia Korea, remarked, “Our initiative is a simple yet powerful testament to what we can achieve when we put our minds to solving the problems that matter. By introducing reusable plastic food trays at this landmark baseball stadium, we’re not just reducing waste, we’re inviting hundreds of thousands and millions of fans to join us in making a conscious choice for the environment.”

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon stated, "The usage of reusable plastic food trays at Jamsil Baseball Stadium, which is the home ground of Seoul-affiliated baseball teams, exemplifies the city's commitment to sustainability and environmental protection." He added, "With this initiative, Jamsil Baseball Stadium is set to become a more attractive destination in Seoul, leading the way in fostering an eco-friendly sports viewing culture."

Aramco is the majority shareholder of S-Oil and the second largest shareholder of HD Hyundai Oilbank.
