Global specialty chemical company KCC said on Tuesday that it recently developed innovative recycled materials by processing manufacturing by-products generated at industrial sites.

The newly developed materials use refined powder that is derived from by-products produced during the manufacturing of glass fiber alongside the ubiquitous instant rice bowl containers. KCC emphasized that using 100 percent recycled materials is significant as it can potentially replace conventional plastics. The company currently uses these materials to manufacture biodegradable wet wipes caps for Klean Nara, a paper company, and anticipates broader applications in various plastic products moving forward.

The materials were also certified by the Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL) for their synthetic resin material (PP).

KCC expects these new materials to have several positive effects, including reducing the use of new plastics, decreasing household waste by recycling instant rice bowl containers, minimizing production by-products, and reducing disposal costs.
