Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas announced Thursday that it will come out with a special omakase menu at its Japanese fine dining restaurant Hakone in light of its appointment as the official hotel sponsor for the upcoming Asia's 50 Best Restaurants ceremony.
The unveiling of Asia's 50 Best is taking place in Korea for the very first time this year, and the event will be housed at the hotel in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, on March 26.
Hakone's omakase offering, set to run from March 18 to 31, will be presented by veteran sushi specialists who will be cooking with the freshest local ingredients, according to the hotel.
Presented in authentic Edomae style, the promotion features 12 pieces of sushi, including morsels made with the choicest spring smoked mackerel, and various spring delicacies such as sashimi, grilled fish and clear soup made with seasonal fish from Jeju Island.
Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas has especially been keen on refining its Japanese fine dining.
The hotel has previously invited star chefs from Japan including kaiseki master Sawada Kazumi and Sushiya Shota’s Moon Kyung-hwan, the first Korean to receive a Michelin star in the sushi field in Japan, to learn from their expertise and incorporate those skills into upgrading their menus and services. More recently, Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas recruited sushi specialists Cho Bong-su and Jang Dong-hoon to bolster Hakone’s omakase competitiveness.
"In celebration of Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas’ selection as an official hotel for Asia's 50 Best Restaurants, we have spared no effort in preparing our special sushi omakase promotion. This will be an opportunity for guests to experience first-hand the exceptional gastronomic delights we have to offer through our sushi specialists," a Parnas Hotel representative said.
Hakone's special omakase course is 150,000 won ($114) per person for lunch and 200,000 won for dinner. Reservations can be made through the hotel's official website.
