South Korean tech giants Samsung Electronics Co. and LG Electronics Inc. are scrambling to take the lead in artificial intelligence (AI)-powered TVs with high-performing screens.

Samsung Electronics unveiled the 2024 Neo QLED 8K TV on Wednesday during the Unbox & Discover 2024 event at headquarters in Seocho-dong, southern Seoul.

The latest product features the third-generation AI 8K resolution- processor, boasting 512 neural networks—eight times more than its predecessor.

The innovation incorporates a neural network processing unit (NPU) that operates twice as fast. All the features enable users to enjoy clearer picture quality by upscaling low-resolution images to 8K resolution.

Neo QLED 8K comes in 85-inch and 75-inch sizes, with no difference in prices compared with their predecessors.

LG Electronics also debuted new products on Wednesday, including the 2024 LG OLED Evo, which showcases enhanced AI performance.

Equipped with an Alpha 11 processor, it delivers four times the power of its predecessor, the Alpha 9. The most advanced processor can analyze each pixel in the frame to elevate image quality.

Both brands leveraged AI tech in the launches to elevate image quality and enrich the viewing experience.

By harnessing AI chips, they have also achieved significant advancements in speed and image quality while maintaining the starting price at the same level as last year.
