S-Oil donates 330 million won to the socially vulnerable

S-Oil donated 330 million won ($250,569) to the Korea National Council on Social Welfare on Wednesday as part of its charity campaign for the socially vulnerable in local communities.

S-Oil’s Service Station Sharing N Campaign aims to provide support for the vulnerable at social welfare facilities nearby gas stations. Through the program, the oil refiner’s 300 gas stations nationwide provide donations to local welfare facilities for children, elderly or people with disabilities in their respective local communities.

S-Oil signed an agreement for the Service Station Sharing N Campaign in 2011 with the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare. The company has donated a total of 4.8 billion won over the past 13 years since then.

A donation handover ceremony was held on Wednesday at a gas station in Mapo District, western Seoul, with S-Oil President Ahn Jong-bum and Korea National Council on Social Welfare Chairman Kim Sung-i in attendance.

“When things are tough for everyone, we will look more closely into those who are in need of support, actively practicing S-Oil’s core value of sharing and serving as a strength for the local community,” said an S-Oil spokesperson through a release.
