Seventeen wins big at Japan Gold Disc Awards taking home six awards

Boy band Seventeen took home six awards at the 38th Japan Gold Disc Awards, the highest among all the K-pop acts recognized by the Japanese music ceremony this year.

Boy band Seventeen took home six awards at the 38th Japan Gold Disc Awards, the highest among all the K-pop acts recognized by the Japanese music ceremony this year.

The Recording Industry Association of Japan announced this year’s winners on Wednesday.

For the first time, Seventeen won this year’s Best Asian Artist award.

Along with winning the Album of the Year in the Asian division with its 10th EP “FML" (2023), the band also swept the Best 3 Albums category in the Asian division with “FML,” its 11th EP “Seventeenth Heaven” (2023) and “Always Yours" (2023), a Japanese compilation album of its biggest hits.

The band was additionally awarded the Music Video of the Year in the Asian division for its “Seventeen World Tour ‘Be the Sun’ Japan” concert video.

“We are so honored to have received the award,” the band members said in a press release on Wednesday. “It is all thanks to [our fans] Carat and everyone who loves our music. We will try our best to return with even better music.”

Girl group Le Sserafim took home the prize for the Asian New Artist of the Year, and received the Best 3 New Artists award in the Asian division along with NewJeans and Riize. NewJeans also won the Song of the Year by Streaming in the Asian division with “OMG” (2023).

Stray Kids was among one of the recipients of Best 5 Singles with its Japanese version of "Social Path (feat. LiSA) / Super Bowl" (2023).

Jungkook of BTS won the Download Award in the Asian division, with “Seven (feat. Latto)" (2023).
