Egypt expects primary surplus of 3.5 percent in GDP in upcoming fiscal year

Egypt is expecting a primary surplus of 3.5 percent in its GDP in the upcoming fiscal year 2024/2025, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait said on 12 March, adding that the initial surplus as well as 50 percent of the IPO sales' revenues will be directed to reducing the government's debt. Egypt and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) had an agreement to extend a three billion USD loan deal to eight billion USD, following a massive deal with the United Arab Emirates for land-development projects worth 35 billion US dollars.
